Acorns contain a high level of monounsaturated fatty acids that influence the rate of blood cholesterol. These help to reduce 'bad cholesterol' and to increase 'good cholesterol'. They are also a source of vitamin E, an antioxidant that favours the elimination of free radicals responsible for aging. The ability of this vitamin to protect cell membranes and prevent their oxidation make it responsible for possessing preventive qualities in many degenerative diseases that appear as we grow older, for example it is used to prevent Parkinson.
The acorns also contain a flavonoid called quercetin that stands out for its high antioxidant activity.
The Joselito pigs graze freely in the pasturelands feeding on natural grass that grows in the field. Grass is a great source of protein and of vitamin E. It is absorbed and accumulated in Joselito pigs
